Designing an Outdoor Space as an Extension of a Home

Landscape/Spatial Design

I redesigned an outdoor space next to my family’s home that serves as an extension of the house. The design references New Mexico as an ode to my family’s love of the region, with the mid-century modern style of our house.

I connected these influences through color, planting, and material, referencing New Mexico’s landscape and culture alongside the geometric, modern qualities of the stone pavers and rain chain. Together, these elements create a cohesive space that reflects both the architecture of the house and the people who inhabit it.
